Pre-Assessment - Free Virtualization Savings Report!

Before implementing any virtualization project, we recommend a formal "Strategic Virtualization Assessment". This assessment service will accurately identify all candidate servers in the current environment and monitor/measure server workload and performance. This information will be used in the formal recommendation for virtualization.

As a courtesy to our customers, Virtual Technologies offers a Free Pre-Assessment to help our customers understand the potential savings by implementing virtualization. In the Pre-Assessment, we will conduct a analysis based on high-level information you provide.

Please link on the form and fill out as much information as possible.  Basic questions include:

      • Number and Type of Servers
      • Operating System(s) on the Servers
      • Application Environment
      • Basic disk storage information

Once completed, you can either submit the form via email or print and fax to 303-873-6501.

Pre-Assessment Questionnaire

After completing the Pre-Assessment Form, we will analyze the information and send you a Virtualization Pre-Assessment Report that describes potential high-level savings by implementing virtualization in your server environment.   See the example report below.

Average Virtualization Consolidation Ratio 10 to 1 Based on internal analysis
Production Virtualization Node Servers Needed 9
Existing Servers to Remain (un-virtualized) 2 Fax Servers
Disaster Recovery Servers (optional) 6 5 virt servers, 1 fax server
Total Servers Recommended in Target Env. 17 Includes production & DR
  Total Servers Reduced 66

Targeted Savings over 3 years Server Reduced Dollar Impact
  Technology refresh $8,000 server cost 66 $528,000.00
  Server electricity costs* 66 $138,758.40
  Server cooling costs* 66 $45,790.14
  Server provision, maint, re-image costs* 66 $237,600.00
  TOTAL ESTIMATED "HARD" SAVINGS   $950,148.54
  * 3-Yr Cost Factors PER server:
  Electricity $2,102.40 (For 2 cpu server: $.11 per kw/h x .7 = .08 per hour per server)
  Cooling $693.79 (Electicity formula x .33 k-factor for cooling)
Maintenance $3,600.00 (30 hours per server per year w\ labor cost = $40/hour)

Other Notes of Interest about your current environment:

  Disaster Recovery:
There are significant benefits to implementing disaster recovery in the target env.
We included the retention of servers for disaster recovery in the calculations above.
